The HSE have released their provisional RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations) stats that were reported for 2018/2019.
There were 147 workers killed in 2018/2019, down from last year’s 160 deaths. In addition, 92 Members of the public were killed due to work related activities in 2018/19
The sector with the most worker fatalities was again the agricultural, forestry & fishing industry with 32 deaths, followed by the construction industry with 30 deaths.
The age range with the most fatalities was the 16-59 bracket, with a combined total of 107 deaths in 2018/2019.
As per previous years, falls from a height topped the list of fatal accidents by category, followed by being struck by a moving vehicle.
