Pre-Qualification Assessment for AEO application
This test assesses your basic knowledge of customs compliance and supply chain security. Your responses will help you and us understand your current level of awareness and determine the level of support your business may need when making an AEO application.
Customs Compliance competency test
level 1 – beginner
Understanding Your Needs
Do you understand customs compliance principles, including basic import and export procedures, tariff classifications, and Incoterms?
This level is suited for individuals new to customs processes who need to familiarise themselves with key regulatory requirements, customs documentation, and HMRC expectations. Successful candidates will have an awareness of compliance risks and the importance of accurate declarations but may require guidance in practical applications.
Customs Compliance competency test
level 2 – intermediate
The intermediate level assesses a deeper knowledge of customs regulations, trade compliance frameworks, and procedural accuracy.
Participants at this stage should be proficient in customs clearance procedures, valuation methods, and origin rules. They are expected to apply compliance principles in real-world scenarios, navigate UK and international trade agreements, and identify potential risks in customs declarations.
Customs Compliance competency test
level 3 – advanced
The advanced level is designed for experienced customs professionals who demonstrate expert-level knowledge of UK and global customs regulations. This includes strategic trade compliance management, in-depth risk assessments, and the ability to develop and implement compliance frameworks.
Candidates at this level should be capable of handling complex customs regimes, mitigating risks related to supply chain security, and advising businesses on HMRC audits and regulatory changes. Mastery of special procedures, including inward and outward processing, duty relief schemes, and post-Brexit trade adjustments, is essential.
