VARTAN offers new service to keep hauliers DVSA Operator’s Licence Compliant

VARTAN, is launching a new service to ensure that hauliers’ DVSA Operator’s Licences remain compliant and are supported by robust procedures and training.

Tailored to operators of all sizes, the compliance service supports companies across all sectors, ranging from agricultural, hauliers, PSV and trailer operators.

VARTAN’s Operators Licence Compliance service is available from May 2020. You can find more details on our new Operator’s Licence Compliance service page.

Founder and director of the Felixstowe-based consultancy, Miles Vartan, explains the need for such a service: “The majority of transport companies will have experienced and hard-working directors, managers and drivers as part of their team. Juggling the ideal of being profitable while complying with planned vehicle maintenance programmes, vehicle/trailer replacement, drivers’ hour’s legislation etc. can be challenging, especially when dealing with customers’ demands, peaks, and troughs.

“Keeping your Operator’s Licence fully compliant is ‘a must’ in these unsettling times. While operators can benefit from recent Traffic Commissioner concessions, such as the extension of MOTs and changes to drivers’ hours, unplanned and unexpected attention from the Traffic Commissioner’s Office can easily add further burdens to a company. If your DVSA Operator’s Licence is not managed correctly, your business may be at risk of investigation, which can result in precious management time being spent to avoid the possibility of appearing before the Traffic Commissioner. The worst-case scenario can see companies prevented from trading.

“By combining VARTAN Consultancy’s understanding of the importance of managing risk with the transport manager skills of consultant, Peter Bennett, our new service is a one-stop-shop for staying compliant. The service, headed up by Peter, proactively manages a client’s risk so that the company’s directors can concentrate on looking after the safety and welfare of their employees while operating legally and profitably.”

With over 30 years’ experience in the logistics sector, Peter Bennett adds: “Last year our industry was consumed with the uncertainty of Brexit and its impact on how we do business; now we have the additional challenge of Covid-19. With fleet operators playing a vital role in keeping our country moving in these unprecedented times, this service offers companies a new way to run as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. As we all know, sound financial reporting keeps companies in business, whether that is managing costs or investigating potential savings. A first in the industry, VARTAN’s new service brings together in one easy offering everything a fleet operator needs to stay DVSA compliant.”
